Top Things to do in Bali

Let's get into the details! Let's talk about activities and sightseeing in Bali, what to see and where to go. Bali is a huge island with an endless list of places to visit and things to do. If you're traveling to Bali for the first time and aren't sure where to start, this list might be helpful.

01. Get Lost In The Ancient Temples Of Bali

There are thousands of temples in Bali. You don't need to visit all of them, but make sure to explore a few of these peaceful locations. The most impressive temples are Tanah Lot, Uluwatu, Saraswati, Bedugul, and of course the Besakih temple, the holiest of all of them. Dress modest and cover your knees and shoulders when visiting the sites.

02. Trek A Volcano Before Sunrise

There is nothing more magnificient than reaching the top of a volcanic mountain and witnessing the sunrise! If you're in a good shape and physically fit, you should hike one of Bali's volcanoes. You can't get closer to heaven. There are four volcanoes in Bali: Mount Agung, Mount Batur, Bratan, and Mount Merbuk. Keep in mind that all of them are active, don't trek without a guide.

03. Explore The Endless Rice Terraces Of Bali

Bali wouldn't be Bali without the lush rice terraces in all shades of green. You can find rice paddies with breathtaking panoramic views all over Bali, most in rural areas around Ubud. The most famous rice terraces are the ones in Tegalalang, a half hour north of Ubud.

04. Learn Surfing In Kuta

When people think about Bali, surfing is one of the main reasons to visit this island. Bali offers worldclass surfing opportunities, but it's also one of the most affordable places in the world to learn surfing. The waves in Kuta are perfect for beginners, as they break over soft sand, not corals. If you're on a budget, just walk along the beach and you'll meet local guides who are happy to teach you how to surf for a small fee. Advanced surfers should check out Uluwatu, Canggu and Nusa Dua for the perfect wave.

05. Get Close To The Monkeys

That's one of the most adventurous things to do in Bali! Don't miss out on an encounter with these amazing creatures and visit the Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud! Keep a safe distance to them and make sure to attach everything properly to your body. Anything that's loose (like sunglasses or a hat) will get stolen by a monkey in no time. The monkeys grab everything they can.

06. Enjoy The Bali Beaches (Or Even Better: Escape To Nearby Islands)

The best beaches in Bali are Mengiat Beach, Geger Beach, Jimbaran Beach, Legian Beach, and the beaches around Sanur. If you're dreaming of picture perfect white sandy beaches and azure waters, you'd better leave the main island of Bali and hop on a boat to nearby islands. Popular romantic getaways are Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Penida and of course, the Gili Islands Geographically, the Gilis are not part of Bali, but still close enough to get there quickly by speedboat (2 hours).

07. Adventure Sports

There are tons of adventurous activities to do. You can go bungee jumping, paragliding, hiking, mountain cycling, horseback riding, jungle trekking, and even treetop zip‐lining. Prices will vary, though they are all quite affordable. Bungee jumping, for example, is just under 1,000,000 IDR while a tandem paraglide is around 1,300,000 IDR.

08. Visit A Spa

Bali is the perfect place to re‐energize, by pampering yourself and releasing bottled up stress and tension. Balinese massage is one of the most relaxing in the world, and there are a number of Balinese spa treatments which involve the use of various herbs and spices. Prices vary depending on what you purchase but expect to pay at least 275,000 IDR for a treatment.

09. Learn About Balinese Culture In Ubud

Ubud is the second most popular tourist area and was made super famous by the book, Eat, Pray, Love. However, this is still the best place to observe Balinese on Bali and is still considered the island’s cultural capital. There are a number of beautiful temples, numerous historical sites, dancing shows, a monkey temple, and some of the best food on the island. People tend to stay here awhile.

Money saving tips in Bali

Eat the local food: You can pick up tasty local fare for around 7,000 IDR. Stay far away from the western restaurants if you want to save money and experience the local cuisine!
Bargain: Nothing is ever at face value in Indonesia. Bargain hard and bargain often. Don’t ever pay the first price you were quoted.
Head north: The southern area of Bali (Kuta, Ubud, Seminyak, etc) is the most popular and most expensive part of the island. If you head to the beaches in the north or northeast part of Bali, you’ll find that prices are about half the cost and you’ll be able to find better deals on accommodation.
Save money on rideshares: Uber is way cheaper than taxis and are the best way to get around a city if you don’t want to wait for a bus or pay for a taxi. The Uber Pool option is where you can share a ride to get even better savings (though you can get your own car too).

I hope you'll have a fabulous holiday trip to Bali! And above all the things I mentioned here, don't forget to meet and interact with the locals. Talk with the hotel staff and eat where the locals eat. So why are you waiting for? Plan and pick one luxury tour package now and explore your dream international tourist destination in the best way possible.
