Howrah bridge the most famous bridge for its marvellous architecture, Kanchenjunga Mountains that takes a convincing place in every geography book, Darjeeling, the famous hill station for its tea produce, the Hooghly river known as the branch of ganges, Sundarbans, for its Bengal Tigers are known by everyone in and around India. These places creates a urge to travel into the baffled minds of the tourists.

Kolkata
The cultural capital of India and the capital city of West Bengal is famous for its 75 year old Howrah Bridge that connects the Kolkata and Howrah on the banks of river Hoogly. We shouldn’t miss out the Victoria Memorial Hall to awaken ourselves from the Indo-Saracenic architecture. On the entrance there is a bronze statue of Queen Victoria with a total of 25 galleries including the sculpture gallery, royal gallery,etc… The Indian Museum of Kolkata consists of different sections like geology, archaeology, anthropology, zoology and art sections. Mandarmani

Bishnupur

Sunderbans
The world’s largest Mangrove forest and the home to the famous Bengal Tigers is worth the visit by every for every wildlife photographers. It is a UNESCO recognized world heritage site that is mainly targeted in protecting the Tigers under the Project Tiger. Major attractions of Sunderbans are Sajnekhali a bird sanctuary, Bhagabatpur Crocodile Project which is a crocodile breeding farm, Piyali Island is a good place for a stroll, bird watching, boat rides, etc.

Darjeeling

Pohela Boishakh
First day in the Bengal calendar is celebrated as Pohela Boishakh which the Bengali New Year according to the lunisolar calendar. It is also depended upon Akbar’s coronation.

Durga Puja
Durga Puja or Durgotsav is the biggest festival celebrated dedicated to Goddess Durga. It is a ten day event decorating the idol into different avatars. They end the tenth day which is the final day of the Navratri called as Vijaya Dasami or Dussehra is celebrated massively. Foreigners and domestic tourists flock to West Bengal just to witness the grandeur of the festival.

Poush Sankranti
Poush Sankranti is the harvest festival celebrated to honor the Sun god Surya. It is one of the ancient festivals celebrated according to the solar cycles. It is to welcome the longer days of summer and thanking the god for a good harvest.

Aloo Potol Posto
Aloo Potol posto is a dish made with pointed gourd and poppy seeds along with red, green chillies and coconut puree is a typical Bengali dish.

Sorse Bata Ilish Mach
Fish is a prime food for Bengalis. The Hilsa or “Ilish” fish curry is made with mustard seeds, turmeric powder, green chillies, kalonji (onion seeds) are made into a paste in which the fish is marinated and lightly fried in the mustard oil that adding a pungent smell to the dish.

Rasgulla
Rasgulla is a sweet dish that is originated from East Indian states like Odisha and West Bengal. The dessert is a mixture of chhena or cheese curd and semolina. It is made with milk, yogurt, lemon juice, sugar, water, cardamom powder and saffron. The mushy white balls are dropped in the boiled sugar syrup for serving.

Sandesh
Bengali desserts are mostly made with dairy products. Sandesh is another sweet dish that is made with crumbled paneer and powdered sugar with cardamom powder and garnished with sliced pistachios.

Patishapta
Patishapta is a dish made during Poush Parbon which is the Harvest festival of Bengalis. The freshly harvested rice and jaggery is used in the making of Patishapta. The batter is made with rice flour and powdered sugar cooked like a crepe and stuffed with jaggery or caramelised coconuts.

Mishti Doi
It is a sweetened yoghurt dish that is made by thickening the milk and is sweetened with jaggery. The Doi is served in earthen pot to keep it cool all day long. It is mainly prepared during occasions like Durga Puja and Bengali New Year.
