Golconda Fort

Built by the Qutub Shahi dynasty in the 16th century, the name Golconda literally means round shaped Hill. Golconda was originally built and developed by the Kakatiya dynasty. Char Minar
It is one of the most popular landmarks of Hyderabad. It is located in the old city of Hyderabad. It is surrounded by the Mecca Masjid. Char Minar was built from the bricks which were there in the Laad Bazaar and in Mecca. It was constructed by Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah in the year 1591. It was constructed to commemorate the foundation of Hyderabad. It is surrounded by 4 minarets, each one of which is almost 50 ft in height.

Mecca Masjid
It is situated in old Hyderabad. It is one of the heritage monuments in Hyderabad and one of the biggest mosques in India. Mecca Masjid is almost 400 years old. It has a three-arched façade and it is popular throughout India for its beautiful architectural design. A single granite has been carved out to make the façade. It is open from 4 am to 9:30 pm. The area around Char Minar is also a great place to be explored.

Shri Jagannath Temple
The local Oriya community in Hyderabad has constructed this temple. It is frequented by the tourists throughout the year. After the Jagannath Temple in Puri, this has been constructed as a replica for that. The shikhara of the temple is almost 70 ft in its height. It is open every day from 6:00 am to 11:00 am and from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The Ratha Yatra that takes place every year is the major attraction of this temple.

Ramoji Film City
It is one of the most interesting places to visit in Hyderabad with family. The entire place is woven around the theme of cinema. It is a great place to visit during your holidays. It spreads over almost 2000 acres of land which makes your day worthily spent. There’s a performance arena, multi-cuisine restaurants, studios, Kids Park and a lot more. Visit the Chowmahalla Palace
It is a luxurious 18th-century palace. There are Belgian chandeliers and marble tiled floors in the palace. The Asaf Jahi dynasty used to stay in this palace and entertained most of their royal guests. There are huge garden courtyards. From this palace, you will get to know a lot about the life and time of the Nizam. The Yellow Rolls Royce car which was used in 1911 is also exhibited in this palace. Buy some Bidriware- It is a unique technique applied on metalware. The zinc and copper are mixed with silver in this process of Bidri. This work mainly belongs to Bidar which is in Karnataka. This kind of work originated mainly in Persia and it is said to be 400 years old. You can buy it from Charminar in Karnataka. These works look very beautiful.

Visit the lake of Hussain Sagar
It was built in the year 1562 on the River Musi. It is an artificial lake but it is also the main water supply for Hyderabad for many years. There is a huge statue of Lord Buddha standing in the middle of the lake. The statue is almost 18 meters tall. You can go for a 30 minutes boating ride in this lake. It is a famous sailing area for the tourists and the locals.

Visit the Salar Jung Museum
It is a popular national museum of India. There’s an antique collection by Salar Jung III. This museum displays the largest antique collection ever. There are many treasures from North America, Egypt, and Persia which are preserved perfectly in this museum. Many swords, paintings, and daggers are also found here. It is open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and is located in Darul Shifa Road.

Explore the Qutb Shahi tombs
They are located very close to the Golconda fort. There are 21 tombs in total. There are as many mosques too. They are all placed in the cubicles. There are decorated in a unique style with lime stucco. There are many rulers, physicians, and courtesans occupying these tombs. It is open from Saturday to Thursday from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.

Visit the Undavalli Cave Temples
It is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. This cave temple is four-storeyed which has been carved from a hillside. These shrines were used during the second and seventh centuries but now they usually remain empty. Only the shrines on the third level are still in use. There is an idol of Lord Vishnu. It is located 6 kilometers from Vijayawada. From the terrace, you can get the magnificent views of the rice paddies.
